Gonna spin right off this planet

I'm pretty sure I've professed my love for Gary Busey elsewhere in my blog... Ah yes, here it is. So Gary Busey is terrifying and awesome. I bet most everyone has seen this video of the Busey accosting Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, but it is worth watching again. Check it out....

This video cracks me up. Go Busey Go!

If I were Bionic Woman, what would I wear?

Holy cow. I just went to this website and let me tell you, I am impressed. They showcase embarrassing artifacts from people's adolescence for the world to see. It reminds me of Freaks and Geeks, hence the title. My favorite bit? Behold!

This guy not only gave this video to Mortified, he also posted it on YouTube. Here's a section of his explanation:

"here's the thing. I made this, back in '87, because I was totally in love with this girl Heidi, and I was going to send it too her. after finishing it, I regained my sanity."

I love it! Heidi, you missed out on some sexy mullet love. I really want to get their book, because this is hi-larious. They even have a section for educators as a guide for using it in the classroom.

They've got all sorts of stuff, including stories, notes, and pictures (like these here). Here's another funny note that someone wrote when they were 12:

"I love you so much it's creepy. I have dreams about you practically every night, each one more passionate than the last. I even went to sleep at camp, just so i could dream about you. You are in my thoughts almostevery moment of the day. You pain me so much by saying you "Just wanna be friends." I cry for you, i care so much for you. Tell me what's holding you back? You know we probably won't stay together forever. I just want you so badly, i won't ever rest until i can get you! I don't want you to think I'm trying to stalk you or that i'm some kind of psycho. I just want you, and need you, and i need you to feel the same."

Here's the boy's response:

"seriously, jocelyn, i'm really sorry, but i can never be more than friends with you. stop writing me notes, it's not going to help."

Oh man, this stuff kills me... I bet if I looked, I could find a note written to me by a boy that really freaked me out. You know, this is why I hate the fact that I kept a diary when I was younger. I read back over it in shame. At least it isn't on the internet, I guess. Oh man, hopefully I don't read over these blog posts in 20 years and think the same thing! Gasp.

Anyway, check out the site. Its pretty much awesome.

A Shpadoinkle Day

So I was thinking today about how much I love Cannibal!: The Musical. For those of you who are not familiar with the awesomeness that is Cannibal!, it is a wild and crazy musical about folks who get lost in the western wilderness and start to eat each other, Donner-party style. The tagline: "All Singing! All Dancing! All Flesh Eating!" It is hi-larious. And, since it is Friday, the beginning of a long weekend, and I got my Praxis scores back and got awards of excellence on both the tests I had to take (nice!), I think I'll leave you with my favorite bit from Cannibal!--Trey Parker performing the Shpadoinkle song atop his trusty horse, Liane.

Psst: Lost this week was completely awesome! Sayid is definitely (or defiantly, as I've gotten on a ton of papers I've graded) my favorite character. I mean really, how could they make him any cooler? Maybe if they included this.

Steve Wiebe, you're my hero

So I just watched The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, which is a documentary on breaking the Donkey Kong world record score. Sound boring and/or lame? Wrong-o! It is an incredibly awesome epic of a movie. It focuses on the competition between Billy Mitchell, reigning Donkey Kong champ, self-absorbed ass, and hot sauce manufacturer, and Steve Wiebe, a science teacher, father of two, and all-around nice guy. And let me tell you, the competition is cutthroat and hardcore! Billy Mitchell has all the characteristics of a classic movie villian: charismatic, conniving, a scary haircut, and surrounded by a crew of henchmen/yes-men who do his bidding (since apparently in the world of classic gaming, Billy's kind of a big deal...). On the flip-side, Steve Wiebe is the kind of guy you can root for as he tries to overcome obstacles in order to beat Mitchell's 20-year-old high score. By the end, you are on the edge of your seat, hoping that Wiebe will slapjack Mitchell's brisket, Philly-style. Does it happen? Does Wiebe dethrown Mitchell? Rent this sucker and find out!

Take it from me, you really should watch this movie. It is fascinating and completely engrossing. I also learned a lot of useless information on classic arcade games, which is nice. I read online that New Line has picked up the option to make this documentary into a scripted movie, and that the Wiebe would like Greg Kinnear or... Nathan Fillion (sigh) to play him. Now that is a movie I'd love to see.

Conquista!

Watch and love. This song--"Conquest" by the White Stripes--is awesome in English, but then Jack White goes and records it in Spanish! Does he want my head to a-splode? Oh man, I think I like this song even better in Spanish. However it is not my favorite time a musician covered their songs in a foreign language. Yikes!

Believe it or not, it's just me

So, check out this funny video, which features not one, but three funny talk show hosts. I think if this staged fight were real, Conan would prevail. I think John Stewart would be the first to fall, then Colbert and Conan would fight, perhaps to the death.

Also, I read today that they are making The Greatest American Hero into a movie. This show has the greatest theme song/opening credits montage EVER! Check it out at the end of the post. I'll be interested in seeing how the movie goes down, 'cause this could be awesomely bad if done right.

I was also excited to see the first new episode of Lost in a while. While I liked the episode, it was the first one I watched when it came out, rather than on DVD/itunes. I'm not used to watching the action go so slowly. It's funny; the people on the island have only been there for something like 90 days, but has been on for years. When I watched it originally, I was much closer to the 90-day mark. I guess now I'll have to get used to watching it each week. I don't want to think about if the writer's strike doesn't end before the episodes run out; that would be awful.

Speaking of the strike, I've suddenly realized this week how much I've missed The Office. Just when Jim and Pam finally hook up, it is taken away from us cruelly. I've been lovin' 30 Rock on DVD, but I really miss my favorite Scranton misfits. Here's hoping the strike ends soon...

Tricks are something whores do for money...

So I just read that there is an Arrested Development movie in the works! This is awesome and should happen ASAP. Don't believe me? Feast your eyes on this, suckas.
