A hint of flame-broiled meat

Yesterday was my last day teaching of 2008... It feels sooo good to be done for two whole weeks. I tell ya, there haven't been a lot of moments when I've felt satisfaction or a sense of accomplishment in my job, but when I shut my door yesterday (at around 5:30-6:00!) I was sort of proud of myself. I made it through half a year! I feel like things are getting better, which is such a relief.

Anyway, I read this story and it blew my mind: Burger King has its own cologne! It's called "Flame", and it can be yours for only $3.95, plus tax. A quote from the website: "Behold the scent of seduction, with a hint of flame-broiled meat." Suduction AND meat? Sold! Purchase your own here.

One other thing: I have a new show that I'm crazy about: Veronica Mars. We checked it out from the library on a whim, and it is completely awesome. I think the best way to describe the show is Twin Peaks meets Smallville. I'm about halfway through the first season and I'm pretty durn impressed.

Wow! I feel like I could do anything! Want the same feeling? Watch this video:

Hooray! Again, a great video I found on Pajiba.

Axl and bacon: A perfect combination

So Alex bought me the new G N' R album--the mythical Chinese Democracy. At first, I was worried. After all this time, would Axl still have the magic? I opened 'er up and gave 'er a listen. Track One left me underwhelmed. Not bad, but not what I want after 50 thousand years of waiting. Thankfully, soon I got to track three. Ooooh, track three. It's called "Better," and you can check it out here. I think it's got more of that classic G N' R vibe. All in all, it's not a perfect album (hello, no Slash!), but it still makes me happy. It reminded me of a better time, before Axl looked like this. Just fyi, blog readers: I have not yet given up on my dream to front a GnR cover band. Just gotta find my Slash!

One other noteworthy event happened to me this week: Bacon and eggs ice cream. Yes, that's correct. Alex, Neal, and I went to this restaurant in Provo, and I ordered me some bacon and eggs ice cream for dessert. It was bacon ice cream with a piece of candied bacon on the side, complete with cinnamon toast rounds and a smear of chocolate sauce. Sound strange and disgusting, you say? Well, you'd only be partially right. I definitely was strange, but it was friggin' delicious. Really sweet, slightly salty and crunchy... perfect.

Bond, James Bond

So I went to see Quantum of Solace on Friday, which was fantastic. Now, don't get me wrong, it was no Casino Royale, but it was strong nonetheless. I really sort of love Daniel Craig. Also, strangely, I sort of love Judi Dench. Call me crazy, but they're just so awesomely sexy. It got me thinking about my favorite James Bond movies... So I have compiled a mini-countdown. Granted, I haven't seen every single James Bond movie, so this list is extremely subjective. So heeere we goooo--

My top five James Bond movies:

5. From Russia with Love
4. Diamonds are Forever
3. Live and Let Die
2. Goldeneye
1. Casino Royale

My first three are sentimental favorites. I went through this Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman phase when I was a kid, so I loved Live and Let Die. Also, I loved the theme song (actually, the GnR version is pretty damn cool).

Goldeneye
is a given. Especially since the video game is probably my favorite game EVER! And I'm pretty durn good at it. If anyone wants to challenge me, I'll whip out my N64 and we'll have an epic battle! (And I'm not kidding either. I've been lonely since we moved. Come hang out with me... I would even maybe let you win.)

Casino Royale, though, can't be topped for me. It's epic. Soooo friggin' good. I love it.

Some other stuff that I've been enjoying lately: Campbell Brown and D.L. Hughley on CNN. I've been watching "No Bias, No Bull" for a little while now, but I just saw my first episode of "D.L. Hughley Breaks the News." I was really impressed with it, though. He was funny, engaging, and respectful to his guests, even when he disagreed. I'm going to have to watch more often.

Also, I really like Bad Brad Wheeler on KRCL in the afternoons. He plays really awesome, interesting music, and I like his style on the air. It doesn't hurt that he plays the Detroit Cobras on a semi-regular basis. If you've never listened, check it out! 90.0, 2-6 in the afternoon. I listen to it on my drive home.

Winners and Losers

Winners:

Barack Obama: Obama + education = happy teachers! This picture is Obama made with cupcakes! What the hell could be a better mix!

Lost fans: Lost begins again Jan. 21, 2009. Lost is soooo good right now. I can't wait for it to start again.

30 Rock: Last night's 30 Rock was soooo funny. I'm lovin' it.

Dr. Horrible: I just think he's a winner. Just watch already.

Losers:

McCain/Palin: English nerds, check out this critique of Sarah Palin's grammar. Love it!

The Office: I dunno about you guys, but I'm not crazy about The Office this season. I don't like that The Temp is back, I don't like the contrived Jim/Pam problems, and I'm just not feeling it right now.

A pants-less, jogging Steve Gutenberg: Yikes... This is too bizarre and hilarious to be real.... Also, I think in this situation, the loser might be anyone who witnessed this.

Undecided:

Tree frog vs. snake: This one's your call.

The only doom that's looming is in loving me to death

So, amazingly, I haven't yet posted about "PG Porn"! James Gunn created these short, sex-free pornos just for the interweb, and the first episode features my boyfriend Nathan Fillion! Check it out.

Awesome! Also, if you still haven't watched "Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog," check it out! It is super fantastique.

I have one more video for you today. This is crazy cool. It's a stop-motion animated video, done by a guy who calls himself PES. Here's a quote that was in Paste about his awesomeness:

"Clicking on a PES film is to open a safe and suddenly see a million ideas glittering and exploding," says director Michel Gondry. "The only reason you close the door is to re-open it just after and discover what will pop this time."

Bye!

My So-Called Crushes

I have to add three dudes to my 10 TV characters I'm kind of in love with. I've been watching some great TV shows lately with some fantastic characters. So... here are three more characters I kind of love:

1: Tim from Spaced. Holy crap. I know I already blogged about how awesome Spaced is. However, that was before I got to the mind-fudgingly awesome ending. This is a fantastic show. And now, I have a crush on Tim (played by the awesome Simon Pegg). I really liked Simon Pegg before this, but I never had a crush on him... In Spaced, he's this slacker skateboarder/graphic artist who works in a comic book shop with a guy named Bilbo (awesome!) He's slightly rude and he bleaches his hair, but there's something incredibly charming about his goofiness. Love it.

2: Don Draper from Mad Men. What can I say about Don Draper? He's smooth, charming, sexy, lovable, and despicable, all at the same time. He's fascinating! He always looks amazing: cigarette artfully dangling between his fingers, hair perfectly coiffed, fantastically cut suits. He's a babe; that's all there is to it.

3: Jordan Catalano from My So-Called Life. This one is not as much about my love for Jordan as my appreciation of the type of character. He's one that I would have loved in high school, just like Angela! He's just this gorgeous idiot, and that by the end of the season, Angela's starting to figure that out. Super awesome. Also, the Leto has dreamy eyes. (Someone wrote that the Leto is now Jordan Fatalano after he gained all that weight for the John Lennon killer movie. He he he.)

The REAL presidential debate

So I just watched the second presidential debate (I missed the beginning because I had parent-teacher conference). However, I ended up thinking that the real debate should be conducted this way. Still have more political questions? Go for another round! I nearly lost it when I saw these political Magic cards the first time. So freaking funny. I also love that it seems like you could actually play with these cards. Perfect.

So... it's been a long day. I think we all need a parody of A-HA's "Take On Me." Just FYI: I really love this song. And video. I probably shouldn't admit this, but I kinda think the drawn version of the dude is sexy... Anyway. This is the "literal version." Enjoy! P.S.: I found this on Pajiba.com. Awesome.

Saturday morning's for Road House 2

Yeah, that's right. I'm watching Road House 2: Last Call, featuring the un-Swayze-like Johnathan Schaech. For those of you that are regular readers, you might remember that I adore Road House. Two words: Throat ripping. It is so damn awesome. For those of you who are uninitiated (which you should remedy by running, not walking to your local movie rental store of choice), the movie is about a "legendary" bouncer named Dalton, played with panache by The Swayze. Dalton, who has a degree in philosophy (?), is hired to clean up a trashy bar called the Double Deuce and ends up doing battle with the corrupt town leaders. If this hasn't convinced you to watch it, I'll just say that it was directed by a guy named Rowdy Herrington. Awesome.

This brings me to Road House 2. I guess that the main guy is supposed to be Dalton's grown-up son, who is now a member of the DEA. And I guess Dalton is dead to start the movie. Completely lame. I'm not particularly impressed by this one. However, Jake Busey is the bad guy, which makes me like it just a little bit more.

Updates

So I haven't blogged for a while... as some people have pointed out... However, I do have a few awesome things I want to write about.

First of all, Alex and I have started watching Spaced. Oh my goodness, Spaced is muy brilliante. It is done by the guys who did Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, which should be enough to convince any sane person that it is probably awesome. Not only is the show hi-larious, the whole thing is packed full of geeky pop culture references. Check it out.

Second, we also started watching My So-Called Life (which we found at the library to check out...awesome). I had never seen it before, but I'm kind of in love with it in all its angsty glory. Oh, that Leto and his dreamy eyes...

Disappointingly, I haven't seen any good movies in theaters lately. We did see Tropic Thunder... Now, I know that a lot of people really liked it, but personally, I didn't dig it. Not a fan. I am interested in seeing Burn After Reading which might end my movie slump. I'll let y'all know if I like it...

I'm flying, Jack!

It's been a long week. To recoup, I'm currently watching Titanic (on cable) and eating ice cream (yeah, straight out of the carton). I'm feeling better already. I don't know what it is about Titanic, but I effing love it. Screw you for hating on Titanic! It's funny how watching the movie sends me right back to a certain moment in my life... Man, I remember the first time I saw it; I got a little obsessed with it. But I didn't tell anyone because I thought that wasn't cool. Now, I wear my Titanic love proudly on my sleeve. The special effects! The bad dialogue and acting! Billy Zane! It has everything! Oh, and don't even get me started on Leo's floppy hair. It is a perfect specimen! That scene, when he's drawing her naked and his hair falls perfectly over one eye... I still swoon a little bit.

The ending, however, always makes me so mad! How come they both can't just balance on the stupid door? I'm sure it would have worked if they wouldn't have given up so easily. Anyway, even though I know how it's going to end, I still get a little sad about it. Right now in the movie, they're just about to hit the iceberg. I'll probably turn it off before they all perish. I need the happy parts of Titanic, not the depressing ones right now. I need Tape 1, so to speak (My old VHS copy is split onto two tapes). Ah, Titanic!

Next post'll be more wedding pictures, this time from our reception!

Update: As I keep watching, I'm remembering more Titanic fun facts. For example, the line "I'd rather be his whore than your wife" was on Twin Peaks before it was on Titanic. Also Ioan Gruffudd (otherwise known as the Stretchy Guy in Fantastic Four has a bit part as an officer. Yay!

Wedding Pictures

So here's some of the pictures from our wedding. Our photographer was great... and his info is at the bottom of each picture.

Here's some of our pre-wedding shots. We went to Capitol Theater and some places around town.

Here are some pictures of us outside the temple with our families...

Look at how cool Alex looks!

We had our luncheon-thing at the Hard Rock Cafe, which was awesome. I love this picture!

I'll post the pictures from the reception soon!

Am I really Randal?

So the other day, I was hanging out with Alex and he told me that I am a lot like Randal Graves from Clerks and Clerks 2. I started thinking about it, and he's totally right! I am a little like Randal (but a lot less crude). One crucial similarity: I hate people, but I love gatherings. Isn't it ironic? Well I don't hate people, but I have a hard time dealing with a certain type of person. And when I get overwhelmed, I need to have a goofy outlet for my stress. Instead of go-carts, though, I've been eating junk food (particularly Beto's Carne Asada Fries... delicious).

I am happy to report that this has been helping a LOT! I'm feeling much better about life, the universe, and everything.

Oh, also, has anyone seen Tropic Thunder? Is it worth checking out? I'd like to see it, but I've read extremely mixed reviews.

Head... exploding...

So today was my first day of teachin' school. I have to say, the idea that I am one down, 179 to go makes me want to puke and die... I have a lot of preps for a new teacher (which means I have several classes I have to prepare for)... I dunno.

One thing I will never take for granted again: air conditioning. That's all I have to say about that.

Busy, but not too busy to go to the movies...

So I've been waiting until I get my pictures developed before I post my Comic-Con blog, but since I'm super lazy and crazy busy, I figured I'd better post in the interim.

First of all, The Dark Knight was awesome and incredible. Question though, did you all like it better than Batman Begins? Discuss.

Second, I enjoyed Pineapple Express last week. It wasn't the greatest movie ever created, but it was pretty funny. My two favorite scenes just happen to be two of the parts that they showed at Comic-Con: the three guys fighting in the apartment and the car chase when James Franco puts his foot through the windshield. By the way, James Franco was the shiz in that movie. Funny and sexy? Be still my heart!

Third, I start teaching soon. A real job. I'm about ready to puke and die from nerves at this point, but let's all hope that I survive unscathed.

I'll post Comic-Con pics soon. And maybe some wedding ones too.

Oh, I almost forgot. I wanna rename my blog and ditch the generic title I used for my technology class. Any suggestions?

Honeymooned

So a lot of crazy shiz has happened to me of late: First-- married! WTF! It was totally and completely awesome. The whole day was friggin' great, from the ceremony to the Hard Rock Cafe luncheon to the reception. And I was unbelievably happy that our reception turned out so well. It was mindfudge-style awesome, what with all the ice cream and Batman groom's cake and robot cake topper and Mexican Coke and vintage soda-pop bottle centerpieces and our sweet playlist and all our family and friends and all. I pretty much loved it. Thanks to all y'all who came and shared the luv.

Anywho, so then Alex and I embarked on our honeymoon to San Diego to experience the insanity that was... Comic-Con 2008! Let me start by saying that Comic-Con exceeded all my high expectations. It was so effing awesome that I'm already kind of stoked to go next year. The Exhibit Hall was crazy-cool (and sort of intimidatingly huge and busy) and the panels are super awesome. One thing that sort of sucks: the food. We ate pretzels and Mrs. Fields cookies mainly. But that is a small complaint compared to the greatness of everything else. I wish we had a working digital camera so I could supply sweet pictures, but alas. I just had disposables. I'll blog more extensively about all this later (we're in the airport waiting to fly back to reality). Till then, satiate your Comic-Con curiosity here.

Just the facts, ma'am

1. I ate pert-near an entire side order of hot fudge at Leatherby's yesterday. No, I didn't put it on anything. I ate it by the spoonful and loved every minute of it. Thank you, Wong!

2. Jason Castro looks exactly like Jo from The Facts of Life. I had this epiphany while watching the episode when Jo, Blair, and Natalie get Tootie drunk. Good times.

3. I have grown to love the Roller Derby. Thanks to Danny for introducing us to such an awesome sport.

4. Battlestar Galactica is the best frakking show... The season finale was an awesome mindfudge.

5. The Incredible Hulk was just okay. Good, but not great.

6. The Old 97's rawk. They put on a great show.

Wrapped up in Books

So I just finished reading Stephenie Meyer's new book, The Host. No, it isn't the novelization of the crazy-awesome Korean horror movie. For those of you who are unindoctrinated, she's the one who wrote the Twilight, vampire-in-love series. Which I like, but do not love. (Sidenote: I loved Twilight, I sorta liked New Moon, I didn't like Eclipse. Also, I hate Jacob in the books. Haaate. I'm also starting to hate Bella. This is a bad thing, since she's the main character...)

However, I really enjoyed The Host. It had a lot of the same literary tics that Twilight has, so if you don't like her writing style, steer clear. Also, it was way too long; an editor should have cut out about... 100 pages or so. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the book. After Eclipse, I didn't expect to like it. But it was great! The sci-fi stuff worked well, the characters were engaging, the story was interesting. (Another sidenote: I thought many of the characters in The Host were just the same characters from the Twilight series.)

It's been a while since I finished a book, which is strange for me, since I usually read voraciously. The past couple I've tried to read I haven't finished (Everything is Illuminated, Watchmen). I think I'll try and finish Watchmen, since it's supposed to be this graphic novel masterpiece and all. I feel sort of like an idiot to say this... but so far, I'm not loving it. I pretty much hate all the characters (and not in a love-to-hate them sort of way, in a could-care-less way). Alex says it picks up a lot if you can just plow through the beginning.

Oh, also, I just read a review on Pajiba of a book I'm really interested in reading. Here's an excerpt of the review and you'll see why: "But I swear to those among you who still have an inkling of romantic yearning within your cold, black, jaded coal-sized hearts: Beginner’s Greek is about true love: Jim and Pam, Wesley and Buttercup, Desmond and Penelope love. It’s not Neil Gaimann[sic], it’s not Nick Hornby, nor is it a cool novel full of Klostermanesque cultural allusions, but — if you’re willing to suspend disbelief — it is a charming page turner that will fill you with lovesick ache and leave you with a heart full of euphoria." Sounds good, no? Even though I am quite a fan of Klostermanesque allusions....

Escapades

Check this shiz out:

1. So I'm loving the Beck/Danger Mouse combo song "Chemtrails," which is playing on Beck's website.

2. Go take a gander at the 50 worst album covers ever. Hi-larious.

3. If you haven't watched the Lost finale, go do it! There's a great breakdown of awesome Lost moments on Alex's blog. Let me just add that season four was the best Lost ever and the finale did NOT disappoint.

4. Is it just me, or did last night's episode of Battlestar Galactica dissapoint? (I know I already ranted about this.) I sorta liked the Adama parts, because I really like Adama and Roslin. However, all the "Who's gonna be president?" stuff really rubbed me the wrong way. It all felt disjointed. Also, why bring back Romo (or his weird dead cat thing)? Didn't like it. Something I am looking forward to: an explanation on how Caprica Six is preggers. It only makes sense to me if Baltar is the father. Also... who is the final Cylon?! Whooooo?

5. I'm going to a baby shower today... Everyone cross your fingers that I make it through without

a. making fun of someone/something and offending everyone
b. scowling the entire time
c. having a mental freakout because my friend is preggo
d. puking (I feel kinda weird today)

Ug.

So yesterday, Alex and I went and got engagement pictures taken. And let me tell you, it was awful for me. I really really hate getting my picture taken. A LOT. It wasn't the photographer's fault, I just really dislike the whole thing. I have a very bad attitude about stuff like this. I feel like planning a wedding is what hell will be like, only with less tulle. The whole thing really stresses me out... way more than it should. Also, I caught a cold, so now my head feels like it's gonna a'splode.

Moving on to greener pastures, I am very excited for the Lost finale today. I can hardly wait. The only thing that sucks is that you know its going to be a huge cliffhanger for next season. We'll find out soon enough...

The kingdom of what now?

So I went to see Indiana Jones at midnight with some folks this week. First of all, let me warn you that this review could have been tainted by the fact that the movie didn't start until 1 (they had some problem with the download of the film). I didn't really mind waiting (since we got free passes), but I was waaaaay tired by the time the movie started, and probably less forgiving than I normally would have been. As you probably guessed, I didn't love the movie. I didn't hate it, I just thought it was pretty mediocre. There were moments that showed flickers of hope, but all in all, a disappointment. Granted, I wasn't expecting a helluva lot, so I wasn't let down that much. However, I'm gonna lay out five reasons why this movie was pretty much lame. Oh, and there'll be spoilers.

#1: Crystal alien skulls? Really? They've been thinking about the plot of this movie for 20 years and all they came up with is crystal alien skulls? I'm cool with supernatural stuff, but sci-fi in Indiana Jones? I missed the religious artifacts.

#2: Random cute CGI animals. Completely unnecessary, totally lame, and spine-crushingly awful. Hate it! I'm gonna lump all actions related to said CGI animals into this one (meaning: the part where Shia the Beef swings from the vines).

#3: Overstuffed 50's references. We get it. Time has passed. All we need to do is look at Harrison Ford's melting face to realize this! The first 20 minutes of this movie drove me nuts with all the 50's crap.

#4: The plot was dumb. John Hurt's character was dumb, the fat sidekick guy (who I think is named Ray) was completely dumb, the plot felt cobbled together ("Let's have them escape for 5 minutes so they can fall into quicksand and we can have an 'Indy hates snakes' moment, then they'll get caught again. Brilliant!") and dumb. I'm not expecting Oscar winners, here. I mean, I liked Speed Racer! But come on!

#5: The characters were lame. I missed Marion and Indy's tart repartee (replaced by dumb bickering and lovey-dovey shiz). As soon as Indy found out that Shia the Beef was (Spoiler, but come on! If you didn't already know this, you haven't been paying attention) his son, I even missed the interaction between the two. Sidenote: I really liked Shia in the movie. And I liked the way the two bantered before they found out they were related.

Anyway, that's my deal with Indiana Jones. Maybe I'll use my free pass to go see Iron Man... again.

Trailer Tiempo

So I just watched two sweet trailers that made me pretty stoked for their respective projects. The first is the trailer for Australia, the long gestating movie from Baz Luhrmann. Even though both Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman have made nothing but suckfests for a while, I think this one looks pretty much awesome. Sorta Cold Mountain meets Far and Away (which was my favorite movie when I was a kid...).

Next up is the teaser trailer for Joss Whedon's new show, "Dollhouse." For all you BSG fans, keep an eye open for Karl "Helo" Agathon, still looking right sexy. Now, I'm not the typical crazy, obsessive Joss Whedon fan. I love Firefly, but I in no way think it is a perfect show. However, I think this one could be really good. No, it could be the best... If they don't destroy it first!

P.S.: I fixed the video. It'll play now. Sorry!

And as you might have guessed, I went to see Speed Racer this weekend. To be perfectly honest, I really liked it. I wished I didn't, because it was all kinds of dumb, but what can I say? It was so cool-lookin' and cheesy. I fell under the spell. However, I think that it was WAY too long. I've decided that the way to see that movie is to go get dinner during the middle hour, then come back to finish 'er up. But all in all, I was quite fond of it. Oh, and Matthew Fox? Good grief, he's the most ridiculous actor. So silly. Anyway, I'm looking forward to being disappointed this week by Indiana Jones 4.

Brunettes, not fighter jets

Check out a new Flight of the Conchords music video. I love the fuzzy 70's vibe and Jemaine's 'stache is man-tastic. Roller skating is sexy after all. If you still haven't watched Flight of the Conchords, do yourself a favor and check it out. It is so very funny... Especially check out the Bowie, Lord of the Rings, and Footloose parodies. Killer!

Also interesting, here's Bret from Flight of the Conchords in his film debut as an elf in Lord of the Rings. He is definitely not one of the sexy elves, I must say.

They only live to get radical

So my friend Danny got married yesterday. In honor, here's Point Break. I know, I know. It's pretty bad. The acting sucks, the story makes no sense, and the dialogue is ridiculous. Which is exactly why I loooove it. Everything Gary Busey says in this movie makes me laugh. And its got such quotable lines: "Utah, get me two!" "Little hand says it's time to rock and roll." "Back off Warchild, seriously." "Vaya con Dios, Brah." "I was takin' shrapnel in Khe Sanh when you were crappin' in your hands and rubbin' it on your face." Man, I'm laughing just thinking about it. Enjoy!

UPDATE: So I just read that they're planning on making a Point Break sequel called Point Break Indo, (as in Indonesia, apparently). Here's the plot synopsis:

When Billy Dalton, military special ops and star surfer, is disqualified from the pro-surfing tour, he takes off for the coast of Bali looking for the perfect wave. While there he’s recruited by a private security force who are trying to find a gang known as The Bush Administration, surfing outlaws and modern day pirates who work like “The Ex-Presidents,” a bank robbing crew from Malibu twenty years ago.

Wow... I hate to say it, but I'd probably pay money to see this... Don't you judge me!

By the power of grayskull!

Iron Man was so effing good! I loved everything about it, especially (you guessed it) Robert Downey Jr. What a fox. I was really impressed by the movie, which is kind of amazing, since I had such high expectations to begin with.

Alex and I were talking about a superhero movie rating system, with Batman Begins at the tip-top and Daredevil at the ass-end. I would rate Iron Man just below X-Men and just above Spider Man 2. I also think, after seeing it a few more times, it might sneak past X-Men.

It would look something like this (warning--this list might need some alterations):

AWESOME

Batman Begins
Batman Returns
Batman
X-Men 2
The Crow
X-Men
Iron Man
Spider Man 2
Hellboy
The Incredibles
Superman Returns
Superman 2
Spider Man
Unbreakable
Spider Man 3
Superman
Superman 3
Batman Forever
Hulk
X-Men 3
Batman and Robin
Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four 2
Daredevil
Ghost Rider

AWFUL

Sidenote: Is Constantine a superhero movie? I included The Crow, but does it count? If anyone has thoughts about this, or if I have forgotten about a key superhero movie, leave some comments.

UPDATE: I added Batman Forever, Superman, and Spider Man 3, which I forgot. And I decided that Ghost Rider is worse than Daredevil. Barely.

I graduated. Yipee.

So yesterday was my graduation. I decided to go at the last minute, just so I could say I did it. It was long and boring, but I'm glad I went. However, I had to wake up sorta early to go. AND there was this concert I really wanted to go to (anyone else like the Black Kids?). We decided to get a supply of Red Bulls and head to the concert. By the time the first band was supposed to start, which was around ten, I was so friggin tired that the idea of standing in a crowd of sweaty drunk pseudo-Bohemians and waiting 2 hours to hear a decent band made me sad. So, we left. I drank two Red Bulls and still fell asleep on the way home. Sorry Alex. So this is a story about how lame I am. In other "Sheree is lame" news, Battlestar Galactica might be my favorite show ever. And if you've got anything to say about it, frak you.

P.S. Red Bull tastes awful.

Beautiful, you talk too much!

I found this awesome blog post with old-school comics about l-u-v and they are pretty awesome. Head to their website--strangely titled "Lady, That's My Skull"--to check 'em all, but here are some of my favorites.

Just FYI, this is totally what Alex said to me when we got engaged.

This one is bee-utiful! I love that his name is Rod...

I get a kick out of this one too. Oh, women in the workplace! When will they learn? Also, did she use the phrase gold-bricking? I was so curious about this that I looked it up. Turns out, it isn't dirty at all.

Some Stuff

This cracks me up. Check out sexy Colin Firth taking his first stab at Guitar Hero. Nice!

In other news, I have been loving BSG and Lost, but I've been kinda disappointed in The Office. I haven't been crazy about these last few episodes, particularly the last one. Am I the only one? Anyone else not impressed with The Office of late?

Also, I saw Baby Mama last night, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall a few days ago. I liked both! Baby Mama was a little formulaic, which was disappointing, but it was funny and Greg Kinnear was kind of a babe. I was pleasantly surprised by Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I expected it to be okay, but I ended up really enjoying it. On an Apatow meter, I'd rate it somewhere between Knocked Up and Superbad. Awesome!

Awesome

So I had five interviews in the past two days and I got offered 3 jobs within 24 hours. Crazy! Anyway, I accepted a job at a high school and it should be pretty good. So now I can go back to blogging about useless crap like I always do. For example, did you know that Brad Pitt was once featured on an episode of Freddy's Nightmares, the A Nightmare on Elm Street-themed Tales from the Crypt rip-off show? He played Rick, a young, suave college student who eloped with his girlfriend and got hit by a car. Check it out!

Also, Alex and I went to Disneyland this week. We got back Thursday so I could do my marathon interviews, but it was a nice little trip. It was short and sweet, even though I was kinda stressed out about life, the universe, and everything. I, like Alex, love the overpriced food at Disneyland as well. My favorites are the Cafe Orleans and the Blue Bayou, but I also like to eat anything served in a bread bowl.

Take your chances, roll the dice

Check out my favorite American Idol contestant singing a pretty awesome song! Realize that I am really really nerdy! It is important to note, however, that I did not call this performance "divine," like the blurb on the picture says. Also, I turned down that job. I didn't feel good about it, so I turned it down. I had to trust my instincts on this one.

Note: The lil' video thing changed to be Regis and Kelly. And since I do not wish to be affiliated with that shiz, I removed it. Later.

My head a-splode

So I've been going through the interview process to get myself a teaching job. And get this, the very first interview I had offered me a job. I have no idea how to decide whether to take this job (which is a great job in a bad location) or to roll the dice and see what else turns up (which will probably be an okay job in a good location). And while this should be really good and exciting, I am not handling it well. I've always been really indecisive and I really, really hate change. So now, I'm sitting at the crossroads of some hobo-core change, and my head is going to explode. Also, don't mock me. I'm likely to slapjack your brisket, philly-syle, if you do. And that is not a good thing, if you were confused. Anyway, I'll keep you updated on my exploding head and such.

This is the kind of peace of mind I'm looking for:

Nice!

Movie woes

So I was sitting around, checking out the movies playing at my local theater, when I got thinking about how crappy the movies lately have been. Naturally, it is that time of the year, but I'm really growing tired of it. Come to think of it, I haven't even seen that many movies lately! Leatherheads and Drillbit Taylor were both harmlessly mediocre, as was Be Kind, Rewind. I still want to see In Bruges and Married Life, but Alex and I have a hard time convincing ourselves to go to see movies at the Broadway due to the crappiness of the theater combined with the snobbiness of the employees (Regency, you will be missed). Doomsday was crazy/awesome, but other than that, I have to revisit Juno or No Country for Old Men to see an awesome movie in a local theater.

On the bright side, there's some pretty awesome movies coming soon. Iron Man looks completely awesome, and I'm also pretty excited for the new Indiana Jones movie. Also, I'm really glad that the TV season will be picking back up. The first episode of Battlestar Galactica was awesome, and The Office will be new this week as well. This season of Lost has been friggin' great, and I'm looking forward to watching some more 30 Rock. Also, if anyone has seen a good movie lately, let me know!
